Beth started volunteering with our Scott House team after we supported her family at the ‘Home from Home’ when her sister underwent heart surgery. She is currently at Newcastle College and comes in every Thursday to support the team. She says:
“I love working with Andrew, Christine and Lisa, they've welcomed me and helped me settle into the role. I also love meeting the families and entertaining the children in Scott House’s playroom.
“I’ve had so many fun times with The Sick Children’s Trust. In April I was a part of Big Chocolate Tea party held at Scott House for the resident families. My family provided homemade cakes which were well admired (!) and it gave me a chance to talk to lots of the families and other staff from Crawford house. I also did the zip wire challenge from Tyne bridge for The Sick Children’s Trust, I raised over £300 in one week which made me really proud.”
Scott House manager Andrew says:“Beth has been a great help to The Sick Children’s Trust and our families. Knowing what our families go through after her own personal experience with her sister gives Beth the motivation to give up her time in between college to help us make Scott House a warm and welcoming haven for our families during their time of need.”
