Ruby Price went into labour just 23 weeks into her pregnancy and was rushed to from Southend Hospital to The Rosie Hospital in Cambridge where she gave birth five days later. Leighton weighed 1lb 6oz and Lola only 1lb 2oz. Doctors warned the traumatised parents that there was a strong chance they would lose both babies. Miraculously, against all odds, they pulled through!

In the middle of the night, when I couldn’t sleep, I was able to express and take milk up to Leo on the ward and would sit with him so he knew he wasn’t alone.

After a very long labour baby Leo suffered from a pneumothorax when he took his first breath. He required lifesaving treatment at The Rosie Hospital, an hour away from the family's home. His parents and older brother, Jenson, stayed in Chestnut House for five days whilst he recovered and Leo made it home when he was 12 days old. He turned one year old in May this year.
Every time I walked through the front door at Acorn House and was greeted by Abi I relaxed and knew that, whilst we chatted, I would feel normal.

Paula Hunter and her sister-in-law, Bev Hunter, are preparing to embark on the iconic Royal Parks Half Marathon on 14 October, which takes in some of the capital's world-famous landmarks and raise at least £700 for The Sick Children's Trust. They are taking on the challenge as thanks for the charity's support after Paula's daughter, Lily, was born seriously unwell and needed lifesaving treatment.

Jenny and Simon Hill continue with their fundraising mission for The Sick Children's Trust after we supported them when their baby daughter required emergency treatment at The Rosie Hospital shortly after she was born. They stayed with us at Chestnut House for 45 days after Emilia's lifesaving surgery. Emilia is getting ready to celebrate her second birthday in just a few days time!

In December 2017 Chris and his wife Laura were devastated when their baby, Willow, arrived 13 weeks premature. Fortunately, having received lifesaving treatment at The Rosie Hospital, she pulled through and is now 16 months old and thriving. However, the family could not be more grateful for the support they received from The Sick Children's Trust during this time.

Lauren and Andrew were supported by us at Chestnut Houses after the birth of their identical triplet boys, Ted, Tom, and Ralphy, in February 2014. Sadly Ralphy didn’t make it and died in his parents’ arms, but Ted and Tom are now four years old. Lauren and Andrew are taking on the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 miles cycle challenge to raise £30 for every night Ralphy was in hospital, £1,470.
The Sick Children’s Trust was there for us when we didn’t think our precious baby girl was going to make it; without them I don’t know how we would have survived.

We supported Rhiannon and Zak in Chestnut House for three weeks when their daughter Luna was recovering from necrotising enterocolitis.. Luna has since battled pneumonia, been declared profoundly deaf and had stoma reversal surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. When the family returned to Cambridge for Luna’s second operation, Rhiannon and Zak stayed with us again at Acorn House.
Knowing your baby could stop breathing every time they go to sleep is a terrifying reality that turns your world upside down.

Baby Sydney-Rose was diagnosed with necrotising enterocolitis and had to be transferred by emergency to The Rosie Hospital in Cambridge, over 90 minutes from her family's home. We supported her family at Chestnut House. Shortly after that we supported the Keatings again at Stevenson House when Sydney-Rose stopped breathing and required further lifesaving treatment. Ned was born at 28 weeks weighing just 1.2kilos. He had a grade four bleed on the brain, sepsis and needed resuscitating and ventilating. Mum, Kerry, was told that the odds were very much against him and it was unlikely he would survive. However today, Ned celebrates his first birthday.
