13 year old Darcy Hoffman and her mum, Leanne , stayed with The Sick Children's Trust at Scott House whilst she underwent a life changing procedure at Freeman Hospital. Diagnosed with a heart condition known as cardiac dysrhythmia when she was just three weeks old, meaning she had an abnormal heartbeat, Darcy had needed to take copious amounts of medication to keep her healthy up to this point.
Ella got a new heart after five months in Freeman Hospital. A lot of that time she was on life support and it felt like we were too, but getting a new heart finally brought my baby back to life.

Ella was just 11 months old when her heart began to fail. Six months later she underwent her first open heart surgery at Freeman Hospital in the hope that her heart could be repaired, but this wasn’t to be the case. It was decided her only chance of survival would be to have a heart transplant and her family began the agonizing wait.
We had been told about Scott House but had not been expecting the level of comfort, not to mention how close it was to the hospital.

Olivia was born with Ebstein's anomaly, a rare heart condition which accounts for just 1% of congenital heart conditions. Since she was born, she has undergone specialist treatment at both the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne, where we have supported her family in Crawford and Scott Houses.
At a time when we were completely lost and didn’t know what to do with ourselves, we were given a place to go.

At just a few days old, Amelia underwent major heart surgery after being diagnosed with a aortic narrowing and large hole in the heart. She was then admitted back to Freeman Hospital just before Christmas 2016 where she underwent went open heart surgery. On both occasions we supported her family at Scott House and to say, Dad Paul ran the Great North Run last year, raising £2,000 for us and CHUF.

Leeander and Zariah feature in Sunday's BBC Lifeline appeal presented by Michael Crawford CBE. Zariah was diagnosed with heart failure and needed a lifesaving donor heart to survive. Shortly after filming for BBC Lifeline, Leeander received the call she had been waiting for.

Darcie-May was born with a serious heart condition called hypoplastic left heart syndrome . For the first seven months of her life she was treated at Freeman Hospital and during this time we supported her family at Scott House.
Through all the tears and heartache we have been through we all stick together and continue to smile, for our amazing daughter and little heart warrior

Ellie, was just six weeks old when doctors diagnosed her with a rare congenital heart condition. Just two days later, Ellie took a turn for the worse, and was rushed into theatre at Freeman Hospital. Whilst she recovered from the operation her parents stayed at Scott House, along with Ellie’s older sister, Izzy.

Abby was born with two serious heart conditions - pulmonary stenosis (PS) and an atrial septal defect (ASD), but was almost two years old when she underwent open heart surgery and her parents were supported by The Sick Children's Trust at Scott House.

Siobhan was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when she was born and at the age of 15 had to undergo a lung transplant. For this, Siobhan and her family had to fly over to England from Ireland for specialist treatment at The Royal Victoria Infirmary and for the transplant at Freeman Hospital. We supported her family at Crawford and Scott Houses.
We know just how important a change in the law would be to families with children waiting for a lifesaving organ donor.

Ronnie underwent major heart surgery earlier this year but was back playing football within weeks! He decided that over the summer holidays he wanted to raise money to thank us for keeping his family by his side at Scott House.

Harry is preparing to do a 5km sponsored run this weekend to raise money for Scott House as thanks for supporting his family while brother Max waits for a life-saving heart in Newcaslte's Freeman Hospital.
After such a long drive or long day on the ward, it is so comforting to know that there is somewhere we can go.

Max is currently at Newcastle's Freeman Hospital waiting for a life-saving donor heart. Home is over 180 miles away in Cheshire, but he is able to have his family with him as we are supporting them at Scott House.
