A group of friends who have already raised over £12,000 are taking on the adidas Fulham 10km city run to raise even more money for The Sick Children’s Trust in memory of three year old Sophie Pokorny who tragically passed away at the end of the summer.

I remember the first night I stayed in Stevenson House I hardly slept. Knowing Isla was so close was comforting and I wanted to be with her all the time, but I also knew I needed to rest so I could be strong for my baby.

Ashley went into labour just 24 weeks into her pregnancy and was rushed to her local hospital. Unable to stop the labour, doctors delivered twin girls, Esme and Isla. Tragically, Esme was stillborn, but Isla had a faint heartbeat and was rushed up to the neonatal intensive care unit before being transferred over to London a few hours later for lifesaving treatment.

At a week old, Lana's son, Nathan, was unexpectedly rushed to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle when he started to struggle to breathe. On arrival, he deteriorated and was put into an induced coma. For three weeks his parents were supported at Crawford House while Nathan battled for survival.

A devoted Dad, Ryan Mathewson, has shared his experience of staying in both Chestnut and Acorn Houses on multiple occasions whilst his son William has received lifesaving treatment at both The Rosie and Addenbrooke’s.
Having two babies in two different hospitals was a nightmare, but at least staying in Acorn House meant I could be right there with one of them.

Steph Elderton and her husband, Mark, were left terrified when their six week old identical twin boys, Reece and Luca, were diagnosed with bronchiolitis and admitted to Hinchingbrooke Hospital in January. In a bid to save Luca’s life the decision was made to transfer him to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for specialist treatment. During this time we supported Steph in Acorn House.

Annabelle is turning one year old in November and over the course of the last year has been in and out of hospital. When Annabelle was four months old she was rushed to Addenbrooke's Hospital as her intestine had folded in on itself. During her treatment in Cambridge we supported her parents at Acorn House.
For families like ours to have somewhere as comforting and convenient as Eckersley House to stay is a godsend when you have a seriously ill child in hospital.

Rupert was diagnosed with pulmonary stenosis and an atrial septal defect when he was just a few months old. After this his condition was monitored closely by a specialist team, but his parents were told he would need surgery when he was older. Earlier this year Rupert underwent that surgery and, whilst he recovered from the successful operation, his parents were supported in Eckersley House.

Alayna Bateson spent the first six months of her life in hospital, three of which were spent in Leeds Children’s Hospital. After a month the family moved into Eckersley House. Once there they were able to be together as a family and Sophie and Jezz's little boys loved the playroom, whilst a few of Alayna's parents' considerable worries were alleviated.

Claire and Alex, from Hemel Hempstead, are asking people to get involved with The Sick Children’s Trust’s Pyjama Party campaign to help the charity support more families, like theirs, when their child is seriously ill in hospital.
I will never forget that the charity held out a hand for me and helped me back onto my feet when I needed it the most.

We supported Mum Stacey and Dad George at Guilford Street House when ten week old Charlie George needed treatment for a range of viruses and infections. We are delighted that Charlie George is now home and doing well.
Those two weeks that Quinn was in hospital were very long and very tough, but having a room in Eckersley House made all the difference

Paula Hunter and her sister-in-law, Bev Hunter, are preparing to embark on the iconic Royal Parks Half Marathon on 14 October, which takes in some of the capital's world-famous landmarks and raise at least £700 for The Sick Children's Trust. They are taking on the challenge as thanks for the charity's support after Paula's daughter, Lily, was born seriously unwell and needed lifesaving treatment.
