Chace was born at 31 weeks, weighing 3lbs 13oz and at six days old, he suddenly went pale and became completely lifeless. An X-ray revealed that Chace had necrotising enterocolitis, meaning the tissues in his bowel were inflamed and were starting to die. He required immediate surgery at Sheffield Children's Hospital and we supported his family at Magnolia House at this time.

Katrina was supported at Acorn House when her nine week old son was admitted there for lifesaving treatment. Henry, who is now four, is doing really well and to thank us for our support Katrina has joined #TeamSCT and is running the Royal Parks Half Marathon.
Knowing I had somewhere to stay so close to Jacob gave me great peace of mind. And I think being so close to Jacob helped him too.

Jacob was attending his local hospital in Wakefield for hamstring release surgery and the removal of some of his teeth when he suffered a respiratory arrest. He required life saving treatment at Sheffield Children's Hospital and we supported his family at Magnolia House during this time.

National charity The Sick Children’s Trust is calling on playgroups, nurseries and schools to host a Pyjama Party this October to support families with seriously ill children in hospital.
The hospital treatment was of course of paramount importance, but the love of a family and being able to remain together during such a traumatic time was the best medicine by far.

Evie was born with Crouzon Syndrome, a rare genetic syndrome which affects approximately one in 65,000 children at birth. It means that the seams in the plates in Evie’s skull had already fused together before she was born which would prevent her skull from growing normally. We have supported her family at Guilford Street and Rainbow Houses since she was born in 2010.

Jay has been in and out of hospital all his life. In July he underwent a gastric pull up where part of his oesophagus was replaced with reconstructed stomach tissue and his stomach was moved up into his chest. And because of Jay's sheer determination, he recovered from his operation quickly and will be going back to school in September to start year one.
